When it comes to dogs, there is absolutely no limit to their spontaneity and appeal as we dog owners are not only limited to pure breeds, we also have our beautiful mixed breeds that provide the love, care and specialties of two different breeds. And honestly, there’s literally a breed out there that matches perfectly any dog-owner that you can find if you look hard enough and put in the time and effort you need. This does not mean, however, that there are no strange combinations out there and for today, we would like to introduce you to one of the most mind-boggling crossbreeds: The Great Dane Chihuahua Mix.

Great Danes belong to the larger dog breed, and if there’s one that’s most common, we’re sure you’re familiar with it would have to be Scooby from the famous animated series Scooby-Doo. And as for Chihuahuas, these are the smallest breed of dogs and the ones you will usually find cradled and pampered by rich characters in movies and books alike. Now, can you just imagine the look of their offspring!? Here are the 10 strange and awesome facts about the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix to get you started.

1. Breeding Large and Small Breeds Actually Happens… But with Complications

Before we get
too far and deep into this crossbreed, we just want to make it known that
breeding big and small breeds actually happens and many dog owners are very
interested in the many combinations that come out spoofing. Despite this niche
demand, however, it is also one of the most challenging, if not worrying,
breeding processes due to the many complications that you will inevitably face
when you put together large dogs and small dogs. The obvious difference in
weight and size is just the tip of the iceberg, which can lead to a lot of
specifics that a professional breeder might need to look for in order to ensure
safe delivery.

From choosing
whether which breed to be male or female is of big importance because this will
decide if mounting is possible or if crossbreeding will require artificial
insemination. Likewise, if the mother pooch is quite small then a c-section
will become necessary because the puppies would most likely be too large for
her birth canal!

2. Size and Weight Difference Between Chihuahuas and Great Danes

Although not
entirely impossible, one of the biggest differences between the two breeds is
the sheer gap in size and weight alone! From the get-go, Chihuahuas are very
small dogs, so small indeed that they are considered to be the smallest dog
breed out of them all–weighing in only 2 kilograms on average and about 20 cm
in height. On the other hand, we have the Great Dane breed this humongous dog,
typically weighing in at an average height of 54 kilograms and about 85 cm!

From that
information alone, it would take 27 Chihuahuas for them to match in weight with
the Great Dane, and also at least 4 Chihuahuas standing on top of each other to
have them at eye-level. And as you can see, the absolute idea of even having
such a gigantic dog breed with a teeny tiny Chihuahua is just crazy!

3. First Tries Weren’t Successful

As expected, the first attempts to cross the Chihuahua with the Great Dane have not been successful and have resulted in many sad endings. The first few attempts started with dog breeders trying to have a male Great Dane mate with a female Chihuahua, but the difference in size and weight made mounting almost entirely possible for the Great Dane to do. And even when it was successful, there came complications with pregnancy and delivery because the puppies were too big for the Chihuahua mother to give birth to properly. A few successful attempts of C-section were made, but both the mother and offspring ended up dying shortly later.

Eventually,
the roles were switched with a female Great Dane and male Chihuahua in order to
completely erase the complications of pregnancy and delivery with the past
attempts. Obviously, it also became very challenging for the male Chihuahua to
mount the large female Great Dane as their sizes just didn’t allow them to work
with each other – resulting in another failure!

4. Artificial Insemination Became the Answer

It all came
down to one answer after the many different tries and failures, and it was
artificial insemination that enabled the Great Dane and Chihuahua to
successfully crossbreed. After the last attempt to cross this big dog with such
a small breed, the female Great Dane was subjected to semen injection into
their uterus to be successfully fertilized by the male Chihuahua. The first
Great Dane Chihuahua Mix, which looked very awkward and unusual, came out after
waiting.

Despite
finally reaching a successful crossbreeding, there were still many
complications to be faced. And the fact still stands though that Artificial
Insemination is the most challenging method of fertilization, very
time-consuming, and requires well-coordinated efforts in order to be rewarded
with such success.

5. Funny Large Heads and Small Bodies

One of the
funniest parts about the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix is the big heads on their
small and fragile bodies that they have to carry around. Of course, with the
Great Dane and Chihuahua crossbreeding, we will undoubtedly see a colorful
combination of genes from both breeds. The head size comes from the bloodline
of the Great Dane, as seen by its sheer size and shape, some of which are also
taken from the facial features of the Chihuahua.

And for the
body, imagine a Chihuahua that got doubled up in size and is significantly longer.
Add all those up and you get a pretty cute looking dog with very funny features
who looks like a sized-up dachshund with a head a greyhound!

6. Loving and Friendly

The Great
Dane Chihuahua Mix turns out to be quite the loving and friendly dog like its parent
breed because of its Great Dane heritage. Despite its funny looks, it is a
soft-hearted dog who knows its owner and is always ready to greet you with
a warm hug or perhaps even cuddle up close and snuggle with you. Sometimes they
are a very gentle dog and not afraid of being social with other dogs and even
strangers to whom you would like to introduce them. So, if you’re the kind of
dog-lover looking for a unique and loving designer dog breed mix, you might
just fall in love with the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix.

7. Can Be Very Feisty…

When we
mentioned “sometimes a gentle dog,” it’s because the Great Dane
Chihuahua Mix also takes the blood from his Chihuahua and nothing can describe
the Chihuahua better than “small but terrible!”While” terrible
“may be an exaggeration of nature and temperance, Chihuahuas have always
been known to be quite aggressive whenever they’re upset or unhappy–that’s why
they love being pampered! And while the Great Dane is a very calm dog, the
Great Dane Chihuahua Mix can actually see much of the feistiness. So, try as
much as you can not to get on the bad side of this doggie because when
their buttons are pushed they will really wreak havoc. Moreover, if you plan to
get a Great Dane Chihuahua Mix for yourself be prepared to keep their needs and
wants sufficiently provided because you don’t want to test this dog.

8. Strong and Loyal Companion

The Great
Dane Chihuahua Mix, contrary to their looks, are very strong and loyal
companions who cherish the bond with their owner and will do whatever they can
to keep them safe at all times and at their side. Despite their size, this
pooch is more than willing to be the first to fight if they feel that their
beloved dog-owner may be in a sticky situation. This comes from the combination
of the vitality of a Chihuahua and the strength and loyalty of a Great Dane. This
results in quite a tough doggo, that if the need arises, it can clearly become
fierce and fearless. So, if the idea of a small cute dog who is forever loyal
to you and wants to keep you safe sounds like what you’re looking for in a
pooch, then the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix might just be the one!

9. Energetic but Not a Hassle

Another cool
fact about the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix is that they are quite the energetic
dogs and will be waiting for any game or walk you might have. But the best part
about their energy is that compared to other dogs, they’re not that hard to
please. The Great Dane Chihuahua Mix has a very minimum physical activity
requirement, unlike most dogs with unlimited bundles of energy and can go for
hours-on-end just running around. This means you won’t have to be sweating
buckets just to keep your dog healthy and happy, a simple walk around the
block or perhaps even a quick jog will do the trick for this cute doggo. So, if
you don’t really like giving 200% when it comes to fitness and physical
activity then this dog might just be your best friend because they don’t care
that much either!

10. There’s not a Lot of Information About Them

If you happen
to look up the Chihuahua Great Dane mix, you will end up finding a
“drought” because so little information about these cute doggies is
provided! That’s because, due to how hard it is to get one, the crossbreed
itself gets no attention. Even having the two breeds mate is such a challenging
task that not many breeders even give it as much as a chance to save themselves
from having to go through so much effort.
This in turn, means that there are not many of its kind, which also
means that not many people can really learn about this breed or talk about it.

These 10 facts we’ve given are just
the tip of the iceberg because there is so much still hidden and unknown about
this dog breed!

Summary: A Dog That Needs
to Be Found

The Great Dane
Chihuahua mix is still shrouded with a lot of mystery because of how
difficult it is to get one and how little of a population there is at the
moment, leading to so little research and literature about it. However, the
bloodline of this dog is sure enough to make up quite the colorful combination
we have yet to discover that could pass for a wonderful designer dog breed. If
you find these 10 weird and awesome facts about the Great Dane Chihuahua Mix
exciting and consider yourself quite the adventurous type, then this pooch
might just be your calling!

The post Great Dane Chihuahua Mix: 10 Weird and Awesome Facts first appeared on PetXU.com.

When you are looking
for a new dog, you have to know what you are expecting from it because this
will make it easier for you to make a decision as to what breed is the right
furry companion for you.

If you’re the outdoor
type of person, what you need is a canine companion who can keep up with
your activities. If you are a couch potato type, then what you need is a dog
that doesn’t mind staying indoors with little to do with heavy activities.

If you get a dog that
doesn’t fit your expectations, it’s going to be a big problem not only for you
but also for your new dog. Like humans, dogs have needs and they can suffer
emotionally as well if they are not given to them.

I will discuss with you
in this article what you can expect if you think seriously about getting a
Pitbull Pug Mix dog. The intention is to make you realize if this mix dog breed
can be your furry companion for an average of ten years or more.

I will begin by going
over the things that you need to know about Pitbull Pug puppies and then I will
move on to the physical attributes, the personality, behavior, and the proper
way of taking care of this dog.

The Parents

As you can see from his name, the Pitbull Pug mix is not in the category of a purebred dog. This is a mixture of two great dogs, a Pug and a Pitbull Terrier from America. The Tindog also introduces this breed. The best way to identify a mixed dog breed’s temperament is to look into their parents’ history.

The PUG was one of Chinese royalty’s
favorite dogs. These dogs lived in utter style back in the days, even cared for
by some soldiers. China began to trade with European countries during the
1500s, and the Pug became one of the dogs included in the trade. The Europeans
loved the Pug that had them as dogs by prominent names. These are Queen
Victoria, Marie Antoinette, and William of Orange.

Then at the end of the
Civil War, Pugs were introduced in the US and the American Kennel Club
recognized it in 1885.

On the other hand, the AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIER surfaced in
England during the19th century. This dog was used mainly in dogfight events,
sadly. When this dog breed was exported to the United States, it was used to
guard farms and livestock. The American Pitbull Terriers are still used to do
the job until these days also used to hunt for wild boars.

How Much Are the Pugbull Puppies?

The price of the
puppies is not fixed. There are certain variables that determine the price such
as the breeder’s name, the location, and the age. But the Pitbull Pug pups are
not as expensive in comparison with other designs dog breeds.

You can get $300.00 to
$700.00 worth of a pup. The explanation for its relatively cheap
price is because the breeder of this designer dog breed is not difficult
to find. Make sure you only deal with a trusted breeder, not a puppy mill, to
get a healthy puppy.

Little Known Facts About Pitbull Pug Puppies

This mixed-dog breed looks
silly as a puppy, but it doesn’t mean it’s dumb. In fact, the Pitbull Pug
puppies are much smarter if you compare their level of intelligence with other
puppies. So, watch your puppy closely or else it can outsmart you.

These puppies tend to grow at a
puppy stage much faster than the Pug. So, while your pup is still small, enjoy
it as your pup grows into a medium-sized dog like the American Pitbull Terrier
in a blink of an eye.

The puppies may look silly
because of their short legs which are disproportionate to the size of their
bodies.

How Does A Pitbull Pug Look Like?

This is Pitbull’s small
version. Once it reaches its adult size, it can weigh an average of 30 pounds.
It comes in blue, red, black, or any combination of colors. The exact color
would depend largely on the dominant parent gene.

The color of the nose
also varies, it could be blue, red, black or brown. There are some puppies that
may have button ears. It is also possible that some pups may inherit the curly
tail of a Pug parent.

The fur is short and sleek. The legs are shorter, but with muscular hindquarters. The Pitbull Pug Mix dogs have almond-shaped eyes inherited from a pug and a short muzzle coming from the side of the American Pitbull Terrier.

One of the physical
attributes that can be recognized is its snout. It is very likely that the
puppy snouts will be somewhere between a Pug’s pushed-in snout and an American
Pitbull Terrier’s longer snout.

These puppies will
become athletic and muscular in the frame so expect them to be as energetic
like the bigger dog breeds.

Other Names of a Pitbull Pug Mix Dog

Pugabul

Pugbull

Pugbull Terrier

Pit-a-Pug

Pit Pug

Pug-a-Bull

The Dog’s Temperament

This is a wonderful
family pet who enjoys playing a lot. But what you need to be prepared for is
its tendencies to bark. It barks a lot! For this reason, if you live in an
apartment, it may be a problem because your neighbors may soon become your
“enemies” because of the noise of your dog.

The Pitbull Pug Mix
dog, however, is a sweet and very friendly dog. It is always happy and curious about
its surroundings. It is gentle and very gentle, which may surprise many as
it comprises a gene of Pitbull.

This dog is very sociable
but it can have some stubborn streaks so you have to establish yourself as the
leader from the very beginning.

Since it will become
very protective of its human family, it can be always on its toes to guard and
protect the family. It can be cautious of strangers as it wants to evaluate
whether or not your safety is compromised.

In addition, the dog
Pitbull Pug Mix is an exciting fellow. If something excites it, it will run and
run around that can take a long time to help it settle down. If you’ve
previously owned a purebred Pug, you know how powerful it is, right? But wait
until you get a Pitbull Pug Mix dog!

The athletic physique
of this pet combined with its smaller size makes it a dog that you see now and
then gone the next-running around like there is no more tomorrow!

How Much Exercise Does It Require?

If you have cared for a
dog before, you know very well that if its exercise needs are not met, it can
result in destruction like chewing. What’s nice about the Pitbull Pug Mix
is that a vigorous form of exercise is not needed.

It needs an average of 6 miles of walking or running a week which is substantially smaller compared to the other breeds of dogs. To give you an idea, that is roughly 45 minutes of walking each day.

If you’re worried you won’t be able to give your dog this, then you’ve got an easier option. The perfect solution to your problem is the Petsite Dog Treadmill. This dog treadmill is ideal for dog breeds of small to medium size like Pitbull Pug Mix dog. It comes with an emergency button so you can easily stop the machine to keep your doggie safe.

This dog is not suitable for the couch potatoes out there. Take this doggie with you while you are doing exercise. It can be a running buddy, a hiking buddy, and even a bike buddy for you. That’s right, you can bike while your dog walks or runs next to your bike by using the Walky Dog Plus Hands Free Dog Bicycle Exerciser. This bike gadget has a shock-absorbing system that keeps you safe every time your dog makes sudden turns or moves.

If you have a limited budget, you can opt to get toys such as Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Dog Frisbee or Snug Rubber Dog Balls so both of you can play catch in your backyard or in the park.

The Diet

Do not feed your Pitbull Pug Mix with more than 2 cups of dry food. The important factor that needs to be taken into account is the type of dog food. Stay away from those with fillers, as they aren’t good at all for your doggie. It needs good food to attain its ideal weight and strong body. Examples are Bully Max High-Performance Super Premium Dog Food and Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Dry Dog Food.

It’s Lifespan

It can live between 10
and 12 years of age, provided that you give it all that it needs like
nutritious food, exercise, and regular Vet check-ups.

But it is also
susceptible to certain diseases that Pugs are known for.

Health Issues

Due to its genetic
makeup, the Pug is known to suffer from breathing problems. Fortunately, as it
is already mixed with a healthier Pitbull gene, the Pitbull Pug Mix dog doesn’t
suffer from too many health problems. However, it can still get sick and the
common problems are the following:

Allergies

Eye problems

Hip dysplasia

Pug encephalitis

Epilepsy

Mange

Vitamins

In order for your dog
to be healthier and less prone to the above health problems, give it some
vitamin supplements.

High-quality dog food
is sometimes not enough to meet their daily vitamin and mineral requirements.
Not all dogs, for instance, have enough fiber content. This is where
supplements come into the picture.

Dog supplements come in delicious chewable so you will not have a difficult time giving it daily. The NaturVet-All-In-One soft chews contain all the essentials that will keep your dog in tip-top shape.

The Zesty Paws Multivitamin Bites are daily chewable that will give your doggie nice coat, healthy heart and digestion, and good support for healthy joints.

What About Training and Socialization?

You’ve got to tell your
dog that you’re the boss and all your orders should be obeyed from day one.
This dog can be on the alpha side so let it know you’re the alpha.

Actually, this dog can
be a bit of a challenge to train due to its stubbornness. The best way to teach
it is to establish a daily training routine that is short, fun and lots of
rewards.

It’s also an awesome
idea to take it out as often as you can in order to get used to meeting
people and other pets. This is an incredible way to curb their aggressive
tendencies as inherited from the side of Pitbull.

Conclusion

The Pitbull Pug Mix dog
takes some of his parents ‘ good qualities. If you plan to bring one home, be
sure to take the issues discussed above into consideration. Owning this type of
dog can be either good or bad.

If you don’t have time and patience to train and socialize this dog, it’s better to get another kind of dog breed.

The Lab Pit Mix is a cross between a loving Labrador Retriever and a tough-looking American Pitbull Terrier.

Since it is a cross
between two dogs with opposing personalities, it is not possible to predict
exactly what their puppies’ personalities would be like. But if you can be sure
of one thing, the Lab Pit Mix will be a smart and energetic dog.

This fascinating mix
dog breed is also called by other names like Labrabull and Pitbull Lab Mix.

The Origin of The Lab Pit Mix (Labrabull or Pitbull
Lab Mix):

Let us begin learning
more about this dog breed by first taking a look at its parents:

Labrador Retriever:

This dog was bred
earlier as a working dog companion in Canada. It worked alongside
fishermen because of its soft mouth. The Labs were also used as hunting
dogs in addition to helping fishermen.

Today, because of its
gentle nature, Labrador Retriever is a very popular family dog throughout the
world. It can live in harmony with other pets and people of all ages.

American Pitbull Terrier:

This dog breed
participated in extreme sports like dogfighting. Back in the days, they were
also used to guard farms.

Unfortunately, pitbulls are still being used in fighting up to these days and have thus retained the reputation of very aggressive dogs.

However, Pitbulls are actually very loyal and protective.

How Does a Labrabull Look Like?

There are no guarantees
that when you get a Labrabull puppy about which parent it all
looks more like. The puppy you’re going to bring home may look more like a Lab
or may look like a Pitbull as well. Your puppy’s physical appearance is also
likely to change over time.

This mixed dog breed
can grow from 17 to 25 inches on average and can weigh between 45 and 90
pounds. Since both parents have short hair, it is no surprise that the dog
breed of the Lab Pit Mix will have short and sky hair as well.

The coat color can be
any of the following: brindle, black, brown, chocolate, tan, and white.

What Is The Personality of the Pitbull Lab Mix?

Since both of its
parents are intelligent and loyal dog companions, then you can be sure that the
Lab Pit Mix will also have these positive traits.

Many owners of Pitbull
brag about the cleverness and love of their dogs. When we talk about Labrador
Retrievers, the same is true. So, when you combine these two dogs, the result
will be mixing dogs that are super smart, pleasurable, and will do anything to
get your praise and attention.

And, since they tend to
form strong bonds with their owners, leaving them alone for too long is not
really a good idea. They are better off with a family who can have someone who
can look after them. They thrive well in busy homes where they are
involved in family activities.

You also have to
understand that smart and clever dogs do get bored much faster. What does this
mean for you? It means that you have to give it interactive toys to keep its
mind busy all throughout the day.

What is The Misconception About Pitbull Lab Mix?

When one hears the word Pitbull, the first thing that would come to mind is aggression and its bite reflex.

But, contrary to what
other people might think, a Labrabull is actually a very affectionate and
loving mix dog breed. In fact, it can get along well with other pets and with
kids.

Another concern is the bite reflex. Yes, it is true that the Pitbull has a strong bite reflex and in comparison with other dog breeds, the bite damage can be much greater. However, several studies have indicated that there are other breeds of dogs that have even higher bite reflexes, and these are Chihuahuas, Dachshunds, and Jack Russel Terriers.

Cautions for Those Who Own a Pitbull:

Pitbulls may not be the
dog who will bite you, but if it does, it is more likely to result in a severe
injury and in worse scenario, death.

But, that doesn’t mean
you don’t have to get a Pitbull or a Pitbull Lab Mix. Although genes play an
enormous role in the personality of a dog, you cannot discount upbringing. So,
go ahead and let your Pitbull Lab Mix socialize at an early age to get used to
being petted by strangers to curb their aggressive tendencies.

How to Socialize Your Lab Pit Mix?

From the day that you
bring home your puppy, invite your friends over as often as you can. As much as
possible, let your friends take their kids with them when they visit your home.

Tell your friends to
give your Lab Pit Mix puppy some treats when they get to your home. This will
teach your puppy how to be happy when meeting new faces.

Take your pup with you
when you’re going out in the mall or park. Let your puppy be pet by foreigners.
Also, don’t worry about allowing your puppy to interact with other dogs.

If you do this type of
socialization exercises, rest assured that your Lab Pit Mix puppy will grow-up
gentle and friendly to strangers.

Of course, apart from
socialization, training it early will also make a huge difference in its
behavior.

Is It Challenging To Train A Lab Pit Mix?

Of course not, her parents are both clever, so it follows that the offspring are as clever as well. This mix breed of dogs has a natural tendency to please their owners. If you give it praises in the form of a pat on its back or a belly rub, it will also respond well. Or, you can also give it some reward treats like Golden Rewards Sweet Potato Wrapped with Chicken.

But what is important
is that punishment or beating is not a part of the equation. If you punish your
Lab Pit Mix, it is possible that it will be aggressive in the future.

You also have to learn
that in case your dog bites you, it is because it is feeling threatened by
circumstances.

Do You Need To Exercise Your Lab Pit Mix?

Definitely yes! This
mix dog breed is high in energy, so it means that it is not suited for a couch
potato dog owner.

It needs someone who is
willing to exercise 30 minutes vigorously with it. But that’s not all, apart
from that energetic activity, walk it out for an average of an hour. Yes, it
can be hard, but it will also make you healthier.

If you don’t give it daily exercise needed, it’s unused energy will be channeled into something else — and that’s destruction! You may want to use dog exercisers such as Agility Hurdle-Dog & Play Exercise Toy if you’re a busy person.

Is It A Healthy Mix Dog Breed?

The Labrabull, like her
parents, is also predisposed to hip dysplasia. It’s a good idea to get a
parent’s good elbow and hip scores certificate from the breeder.

Other possible medical
conditions that could afflict your puppy are epilepsy and hypothyroidism.

The best way to choose
a Labrabull puppy is to see its medical records eye test and skin test.

A healthy Labrabull can
live up to 10 to 14 years if cared well.

The Nutrition of Labrabull:

The Labrabull puppy
grows fast while still puppies, and they need a balanced diet for optimal
growth. By having a proper feeding plan from their first month of age until
they reach the age of one year, the puppies will obtain all the nutrients to
grow in good shape and robustness.

During the first six
months of age, feed your puppy four times a day. Then, as your puppy grows
older, slowly lessen the frequency.

Once it reaches
adulthood, you can give your Labrabull 2 1/3 cups to 3 cups of good quality dog
food.

Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Puppy Dog food and Acana Dog Food are good brands for your dog.

You may also give
nutritious treats like carrots, bananas, and blueberries.

Does A Lab Pit Mix Shed?

Depending on the
season, it will shed from low to medium. If more of the Labrador Retriever’s
genes are inherited, then your dog may be a heavy shedder.

How To Groom?

This mix dog breed has a silky coat, so it’s important that you brush its hair at least four days a week to maintain its coat’s shine.

Is A Lab Pit Mix Dog Good for the Family?

Labrador
retrievers are loved everywhere in the world. On the other hand, there may
be some mixed reactions from a Pitbull. Many people associate dogfights
with pitbulls and their powerful reflex bite.

If you’re bent on
getting a dog from the Lab Pit Mix, early socialization is the important thing
to remember. If you’re successful in this department, your Labrabull will grow
up in the house as a loving and good-natured dog.

look at this mix dog breed, even the smallest detail will be listed here, so

What is the origin of
Rottweiler Husky Mix?

The Rottweiler Husky
Mix is a combination of two strong dog breed, the Rottweiler and the Siberian
Husky. They are two of the most athletic dog breeds in the dog world.

Rottweiler

The Rottweiler dog is a German breed and is regarded as the number eight most popular dog breed in the United States. This pooch is often used as a guard dog. They are mostly described as aggressive dogs. Other than that, some observant say that especially to other pooches, Rottweilers are a bit intimidating.

Some Rottweiler dog
breed owners might disagree with the description above because most dog lovers
say that this breed is actually considered as muscular but gentle playmates
that are ready to protect his loved ones no matter what.

Although this breed
likes to be active almost all the time, Rottweilers still love “cuddle time”
with their owners. They love to spend time with the one with which they grew
up. They’re playful, yes, but they love it every time you spend time with
them.

Rottweilers are
playful, but they can be a bit different, distant outside around other dogs,
especially around strangers.

Siberian Husky

The 14th most popular dog breed in the dog world, Siberian Huskies, came from Russia’s Siberia. They were used as sledge dogs in the beginning. The semi-nomadic people of the Chukchi tribe in Siberia used them to pull lightweight things over long distances. Other than being a working dog, the people also used them to warm children and women at night. In order to help them keep warm, they let the dogs sleep with kids and women.

Meanwhile, it is known
that Siberian Huskies are sociable and noble when it comes to their
personalities. It’s not surprising with their friendly nature that they like
being in a group. They love the crowd— dogs or people— which means adapting to
a new environment and meeting other people and dogs is not going to be a
problem for them.

If you want to own a Siberian Husky, then let me remind you that they shed a lot. But don’t worry they do self-grooming just like cats and they do not have that typical dog odor that you usually smell from the other dogs.

Now back to the breed itself – the Rottweiler Husky Mix…

One of the most
well-known crossbreeds, Rottweiler Husky Mix is also known as Rottsky, a combination
of the name of Rottweiler and Siberian Husky. They are typically called the
Rottweiler Husky Mix, however, to avoid confusion.

What is the appearance
of a Rottweiler Husky Mix?

Physical appearance

Since they are
crossbreeds, a Rottweiler Husky Mix may vary, but they usually look like
their parent Rottweiler, but a little more fluffy. Looking at them online,
you’ll notice they’ve got a slightly longer muzzle, their Siberian Husky
parent’s eyes, and partially dropped ears.

Rottweiler Husky Mix
could be brown, gray, white and sable, cream, red or black when it comes to
their coat colour. On the other hand, it might be either liver, brown, or black
when it comes to their nose.

Eyes

Rottweiler Husky Mix
has a mixed color of the eye, meaning that one eye may be brown and the other
eye may be blue. If you’re worried they might have an eye problem, first hold
your seat! Usually, Rottskies have multicolored eyes. It’s a genetic mutation
result.

Note: Sometimes, these two
colors, brown and blue, can even mix on one eye.

Body size

Since the parents of
Rottweiler Husky Mix are known to have a wider range when it comes to their
weight, it’s really hard to determine what their weight will be.

Note: It will totally depend
on Rottsky’s genetics. But, they usually weigh somewhere between 50 to 100
pounds.

Meanwhile, when it
comes to Rottweiler Husky Mix’s height, they could grow between 21 (55 cm) and
26 inches (68 cm).

Rottweiler Husky Mix:
Diet Requirements

Rottskies are very active dogs – they are very athletic, which means they need a good diet. They need to replenish the energy that they used in every activity they do to stay healthy.

Note: Since they use a lot of energy, you should give three to four cups of dry dog food every day to Rottweiler Husky Mix puppies. When these dog breeds become an adult, you should reduce the times you give them 2 cups a day to avoid bloating.

Experts say that
Rottweiler Husky Mix should eat food containing protein, vitamins,
carbohydrates, minerals, and fatty acids. A puppy needs food that contains 22%
protein and 8% fat. They need 5% of fats and 18% of protein when they become an
adult.

Note: Although they need to
be fed a moderate amount of food to keep them healthy and fit, you should never
exceed in the required numbers of times you feed your Rottsky. If you overfeed
them, he will end up having digestion problems or worst, he will be obese and
it might threaten their lives.

Rottweiler Husky Mix:
Temperament

Rottskies have traits
from both Rottweiler and Siberian Husky, which means if you want to own one,
then you should be ready for a roller coaster ride – he will show a mixed bag
of attitude to you.

This crossbreed, when
properly trained, is active and social. They are loyal and playful, but at the
same time, when they first meet people, they are also wary of strangers and
other dogs. However, most of the time, if properly trained, they won’t have a
problem meeting kids and playing with them.

Rottweiler Husky Mix’s
common health concerns

Rottskies have their
own set of unique health problems just like their parents, so it’s important to
be really vigilant about the health condition of your pooch. If you try to
investigate it or ask your vet for some details about your dog, it will be
helpful.

It is important to
know its parents’ health issues so that you will have an idea regarding your
Rottsky’s health and to make sure that they experience it as they age.

What you need to watch
out:

They might have the same health issues as their parents:

Osteosarcoma

Elbow Dysplasia

Bloating

But they can also
encounter these health problems:

Hip Dysplasia

Progressive Retinal Atrophy

The lifespan of
Rottweiler Husky Mix

Rottskies have a lifespan of nine to 14 years because their parents have a long life as well. Rottweilers can live up to nine to 10 years while Siberian Huskies can live up to 12 to 14 years.

Note: You should always talk to your breeder if you are a first-time dog owner or if you want to adopt another dog breed. Make sure that it’s legal. Getting a crossbreed from a reputable breeder is really recommended. Although compared to others it’s much more expensive, at least you’re sure they’re really well cared for and they’re legit.

Other benefits of
getting your dog from a reputable breeder, they will know the dog properly and
you can make sure you have someone you can contact if you want to know more
about your adopted pet.

If your dog is from a
legal dog breeding house, then you can request for your dog’s health
certificate and proof of a veterinarian test.

Final thoughts about
Rottweiler Husky Mix

If you want to own
Rottsky, you need to make sure you can provide them with the things they
need like a space to move around. They are active dogs, which means that
they love to run and play. They are athletic, so you should be ready to go
with them–if you want to adopt this crossbreed, you need to change your
“introvert” lifestyle.

Remember that no
matter what breed you want to adopt, it is really important to consider your
lifestyle as a factor. The way you live should be suitable for the dog you want
to adopt.

Do your homework and assess the dog you’d like to buy. If you think
your lifestyle is not appropriate, consider either searching for another breed
or crossbreed or changing your own lifestyle so you can take good care of
it.

The post Rottweiler Husky Mix: Appearance, Traits, Temperament and Health first appeared on PetXU.com.

Do you love the athletic built of a Rottweiler yet you also want a Labrador‘s gentle nature? If so, you’ve found the perfect dog companion you’re looking for. It’s the Lab or Labrottie Rottweiler Mix.

I’m going to focus on
what you can expect from this kind of designer dog breed in this article. As a
dog lover, I know how important it is to be compatible with your dog’s
personality, your daily activities, and even your health. This is to avoid
being overwhelmed by your dog’s needs that you can’t provide. Furthermore,
compatibility is important to stop the dog abandonment problem.

In fact, the reason why
you want to buy a new dog is because of companionship. And, if its personality
is totally opposite from yours, then you are in for some difficulties. Thus, I
will help you find out if the Rottweiler Mix with Lab is the dog for you.

What You Can Expect From Mixing Two Dogs With Opposing
Personalities?

When two known breeds
of dogs are crossed together, the result is likely to be popular and desired by
many. Is it a fad? I don’t think so! This is because there have been designer
dog breeds and some of them are being recognized by International Kennel Clubs.

This is due to the fact that some designer dog breeds are believed to be healthier than purebred dogs. One of the designer dog breeds that has gained popularity among dog lovers is the Labrottie or the Rottweiler Mix with Lab.

What Is A Rottweiler Mix with Lab?

This dog breed is a mix of the two popular dog breeds, a Rottweiler and a Labrador Retriever. The result is a dog that has the best of both worlds. It’s a mixture of warmth, loyalty, affection, and energy.

This dog breed designer
is classified as a working and sporting dog. This is because their parents are
in the category of working dogs. Nevertheless, a Rottweiler Mix with Lab is
also an amazing companion dog that can be with you in your outdoor activities
such as hiking and camping.

The Origin of Rottweiler Mix with Lab:

This is pretty much a
new kid on the block. The first puppies appeared in the US in the 1990s. Thus,
there is really not much to say about its history except that its parents are
popular across the globe.

The Labrador Retrievers
originated in Newfoundland, where they worked alongside fishermen. The
Labradors have a soft mouth so anything that they retrieved such as ocean catch
did not get damaged.

The Rottweiler, on the other hand, was a German Shepherd and a Mastiff cross. This is a working dog who helped in herding cattle and guarding camps of their owners. Ultimately, due to its guarding instinct, police and military personnel used the Rottweiler during World War 1.

Kennel Club Recognition of Rottweiler Mix with
Labrador:

The American Kennel
Club has not yet recognized this designer dog breed. This means that there
are still no defining standards about the breed. But, other Kennel Clubs
in the US recognize it.

The Personality of a Rottweiler Mix with Lab:

Labradors are known to
be sweet and gentle yet they are also active dogs that have a proud history as
working dogs.

On the other hand, Rottweilers
are bred to guard and thus, these dogs have innate distrusting behaviors to
strangers. These dogs exude a fearful aura so that anyone who thinks they can
do something nasty will think about it many times.

So, now the question
is, with basically two opposing parent personalities, what then can you expect
from a Rottweiler Mix with Lab?

The answer is IT
DEPENDS ON WHICH PARENT A PUPPY GETS ITS TRAITS.

You will only know it once the puppy begins to be its own self. The puppy may be more like the Labrador. The puppy is going to grow up as a friendly and welcoming dog in this case. Do not expect your home to be looked after with gusto as it will welcome strangers with a wagging tail.

On the other hand, it
is equally possible for the puppy to get the Rottweiler side’s personality or
temperament. It’s going to be your fierce protector from harm in this case.
Because of its aggressive behavior, strangers will be careful to go near you
and your home.

But, it is also
possible that the puppy will inherit both the opposing personalities of its
parents. In this case, the pup will grow-up as sweet, gentle, yet very
protective of you.

Is A Rottweiler Mix with Lab Perfect for Kids?

It is best to get a
friendlier dog breed if you have kids in the house. Though if properly
socialized at a tender age, this designer dog breed can be affectionate to all.

But I still recommend
that you choose for your children a different dog breed. You have to understand
that this dog breed carries with it the aggressive gene of a
Rottweiler. You just never know how it will behave if the children
who play and run around the house constantly disturb it.

In addition, due to the
guarding instinct of the Rottweiler, it may have some issues if you have other
pets in the house.

The Care Guide For A Rottweiler Mix with Lab:

Grooming:

This breed of designer dogs is quite easy to groom. Since it has short hair, brushing it once a week with a soft-bristled brush is enough to maintain its coat. It doesn’t shed heavy either. Even if the temperature starts to soar high, it’s only going to shed a bit so it’s enough to brush it a little bit more.

Since it loves the
outdoors, you may want to bath it at least once a month, depending on its
activities.

Products like the Hertzco Soft Pet Brush is amazing to use on your Rottweiler Mix with Lab. It gently removes loose hair without causing any skin irritations.

Also part of its grooming session should be the ear-cleaning and trimming of its nails. Mites love to hide and propagate in the ears of the dog, and if these mites are allowed to multiply, these will result in infections.

Again, tested products like Earthbath All Natural Specialty Ear Wipes and Boshel Dog Nail Clippers are safe to be used on your dog.

Dietary Needs:

It’s best to feed your Rottweiler Mix with Lab three smaller meals a day to avoid the problem of bloating among big dogs. This dog breed designer is also prone to overweight, so be sure to provide it with the right amount of balanced diet. It’s enough to have a total of four cups of dry dog food.

You may give treats but
do so in moderation. Fresh fruits and veggies are beneficial like carrots,
apples, and nectarines.

Physical Activities:

This dog breed designer
needs an active lifestyle owner. As you do your workout routine, take it with
you. It can run, jog, and go with you on a trail. Just keep it active every day
to avoid the boredom issue.

I think you know that a
bored dog equates destruction.

It basically requires
an average of an hour of exercise per day. Or, let’s just say it’s about 12
miles in a week, the total distance it should walk. You can divide it into two
day and night sessions.

Now, on a few days when your schedule does not allow you to take it out, indoor exercise such as tug-of-war can also be given to this designer dog breed. Or, you might want to use a treadmill as well. The Goplus Dog Treadmill is an amazing product that meets the daily need for a strenuous exercise.

Training:

Because of its guarding
tendency, it is important that you train your Rottweiler Mix with Lab. It can
act aggressively to new faces and to other animals.

Since both of her
parents are intelligent, teaching how to obey commands should be easy for you.
Just always remember that if you add positive reinforcements during training,
it will learn faster. This is because, through association, dogs learn, so if
they behave properly, reward them.

During training sessions, make it appoint to carry with you reward treats like Stewart Pro-Treat, Freeze Dried Dog Treats to make your dog learn your commands faster and accurately.

Then, do not forget to
socialize it at a young age. Introduce it to new people of all sizes and
to other pets so that other people will not be seen as a threat. This is the
best way to tame its aggressive behaviors.

Health Problems:

Since both problems are predisposed to hip dysplasia, it is not surprising that it is possible to pass on this health problem to the next generation. Another potential health issue is obesity and diabetes.

Does A Rottweiler Mix with Lab A Good Family Pet?

Actually, what makes a
good pet depends on many factors like the way the dog was trained and
socialized.

But the
unpredictability of a designer dog breed is one of the drawbacks. In this case,
your Rottweiler Mix with Lab may have a Lab’s physical characteristics, but it
may have a Rottweiler’s aggressive demeanor. Similarly, it may look like a
Rottweiler, muscular and taunting, but with a gentle Labrador demeanor.

Of course, the
likelihood of somewhere in between is very possible, too.

Socialization and early
training have an impact on whether or not it’s going to be a good family pet,
but genetics also play an enormous role. Rottweilers are trained to protect and
guard, so they have aggressive tendencies in them.

A Rottweiler Mix with
Lab is therefore better off with a family that has no young children. This dog
breed designer is happier if he lives with an active lifestyle owner and
someone who knows how to train a dog to be a follower.

Three Reasons Why You Should Own A Rottweiler Mix with
Lab:

It is an excellent guard dog. You can rest easy at nite time knowing
that there is someone who is on a lookout for intruders.

It’s a good companion for exercise. Because it is loaded with zest
and energy, you can be sure it will be able to keep up with any kind of fitness
regimen you are into.

It does not shed too much.

Three Reasons Why You Should Not Own A Rottweiler Mix
with Lab:

It is not recommended to live with kids due to its tendency to get aggressive.

It cannot live in an apartment setting. It needs space to move around, lest, it will get bored.

It’s looks for attention. If left alone, your things can be destroyed. You have to leave it with toys to stop this unwanted behavior to be busy while you’re at work like Kong Classic and Nylabone Big Chew.

Now with the above
reasons, do you think that the Rottweiler Mix with Lab matches or does not
match your lifestyle?

The post Rottweiler Mix With Lab: Origin, Dog Breed Information, Personality and Care first appeared on PetXU.com.

The pomchi is a mixed breed from a Pomeranian purebred and a chihuahua purebred. As the offspring of two feisty and sassy breeds, you are bound to get a dog with an attitude that remains loving and affectionate to its owner.

It can be quite easy to decide if the
pomchi is your type or not, based on looks alone. Although it is a small dog
and therefore looks like a small responsibility, this may not be the case if
you are not yet used to handling dogs.

If you’re interested in owning a pomchi,
the rest of this post can help you decide whether this hybrid is a good fit for
you!

Brief History of the Pomchi

The pomchi is relatively new in the world
of designer dogs, but the first of its kind is believed to have been born in
the 1980’s. The original purpose of breeding pomchis also remains unknown.

Maybe the original breeders wanted a more
fluffy version of the chihuahua, which most pomchis seems to be.
Since both parent breeds are about the same size, there is no problem of
a deliberate and accidental mating.

Nowadays, breeders tend to be inspired to
breed pomchis due to the rising demand for small designer dogs from dog lovers.
For instance, the Yorkipoo, maltipoo, or cavapoo were all bred for the sake of
creating little “hypoallergenic” companions— though we understand that no dog
can ever be fully hypoallergenic.

In any case, some pomchi enthusiasts are
actually working to develop it into a completely separate line that can be
eventually be registered as a purebred.

The aim is to meticulously breed it until
good breed standards can be developed within 7 generations. Two purebred
parents will be the first generation pomchi, while a hybrid between two pomchis
or a cross between a pomchi with a Pomeranian or chihuahua may be included in
the second generation.

This is done by breeders to make a little
more predictable of the appearance and temperament of the dogs. The pomchi
will remain a designer dog that comes in a variety of fluffy appearances until
these factors are consistent!

General Appearance

Pomchi Vital Stats

Height: 6 to 9 in.

Weight: 5 to 12 lbs.

Lifespan: 12 to 15 years

While the Pomeranian-chihuahua hybrid is
popularly referred to as the pomchi, it is also known with other names
like chiranian, chipom, and funny-sounding pomahuahua. The appearance of pomchi
can be quite varied, especially because chihuahuas normally come in two types
of coat (smooth hair and long hair).

Most pomchis appear to inherit the
Pomeranian parent’s coat’s thickness and fluffiness, especially if their other
parent is a long-haired chihuahua. As far as the face is concerned, most look
more like a chihuahua than a Pomeranian. Since both parents have erect ears,
the pomchi will also have that erect ears as well.

Generally speaking, pomchis look like
fluffy foxes with eyes and face of chihuahua. While they certainly
look like a mixed breed, you would have no trouble finding in them the
Pomeranian and the Chihuahua traits. If you like that specific look,
probability is you ‘re going to get exactly what you ‘re asking for with a
pomchi.

Pomchi Coat

The coat length of the pomchi can vary from
puppy to puppy. It also depends on the type used for breeding of chihuahua. The
coat of the pomchi will always be straight in any case and can be either a single
or double coat.

The most common pomchi color is light
brown. They also come in chocolate, cream, dark brown, fawn, gray, merle,
sable, tan, and white. It also comes in combinations such as blue & tan as
well as black & tan.

How Much are Pomchi Puppies?

Generally, the cost of pomchi puppies can
be as low as $150 or as high as $950. On average, you can get one for about
$500.

If you’re speaking to a reputable breeder,
who really makes sure that their dogs are genetically stable and well within
the norms of the breeds, they can charge a lot more. They usually cost at least
$1,400, and may even go up to $5,500.

Another way to get a pomchi is through
adoption. Because they are a relatively new breed, the issue is that there may
not be many shelters that specifically cater to them. Nevertheless, shelters
are specializing in the rescue of Pomeranians and chihuahuas, so there is a
possibility that pomchis can also be taken care of.

Personality and Temperament

The Pomeranian and the Chihuahua are two
vibrant, sensitive, and clingy dogs. Definitely, their personalities can
surpass their small sizes. Therefore, you can expect the pomchi to inherit
these kinds of personalities, while early training and socialization will help
to change their tendency to act bigger than they are.

Small Dog, Big Personality!

Pomchis are generally outgoing and lively,
who can act really extroverted when they feel comfortable. They love to meet
new people and they expect to get other’s attention when they think they’re
cute.

Intelligent, inquisitive, and always
curious, pomchis will always explore their surroundings with restless wonder.
They tend to be very protective of their owners, which can look really funny
because since they aren’t built to fight at all.

Now, of course, encouraging them to be
aggressive is not right, just because they look sweet when they’re all
worked up. They must know their boundaries so they don’t fight anybody
they shouldn’t have to fight.

Little Watchdogs

Although a small package, the great
personality of the pomchi makes it a great and reliable watchdog. Their
protectiveness makes them alert and always wary of people with whom they are
unfamiliar. Even when they feel that real danger in the air, they will take
matters into their own paws.

Because there’re very sweet, sensitive, and
loyal to their owner, they make perfect companions. But since they’re also very
clingy, you need to make sure that you give them lots of love and attention
throughout the day.

After all, they ‘re not the types of hybrid
that you can abandon alone when you’ll be gone for a long time. That said, they
don’t manage the fear of separation very well. And it will undoubtedly be
a major behavioral issue if it is not taken care of immediately. This is the
reason pomchis may not be a great choice for inexperienced owners.

Make sure that when you’re not home,
your pomchi is always with someone. Otherwise, you can end up with damaged
furniture because the fear of separation will cause some dogs to behave
too destructively. Despite being little dogs, they are still able to destroy
items.

Training

Because pomchis are high-energy,
attention-loving dogs, they have a huge desire to make their owners happy.
However, some pomchi puppies tend to have very stubborn streaks — something
that is common in both Pomeranians and chihuahuas.

Their bossiness can make training difficult
for some owners, especially for those who aren’t patient enough to see results.
Fortunately, there are ways to train them that won’t wear your patience out.

For example, dog training courses can
help tame the seemingly chaotic nature of your pooch as trained experts are
managing them. This also allows owners to know how to interact more effectively
with their dogs. Of course, these classes aren’t going to be a success
overnight, but after the first day, you may see some changes.

Housetraining and Socialization

If you got your pomchi as a puppy, training
her should start as early as 12 weeks old. Housetraining is a great place to
start. When a dog becomes potty-trained, it can be a bit easier to proceed to
other forms of training.

You should also start introducing your
puppy at around 5 months to new people and other dogs. When the time comes,
this will help her grow into a well-behaved, well-rounded pooch. You want to
let her know as soon as possible that she can’t bully anyone around as she
like.

When it comes to small dogs, it can be pretty easy to take for granted socialization learning when you think they are “harmless,” but that’s not the case. They may not be able to do as much harm as big dogs, but they may be as hard to tame if they are allowed to act big

The key is to apply firm and consistent
training with them. Always learn how to maintain your pack leader status, and
you won’t have much of a problem.

You should only go for positive reinforcement or
reward-based training as with all types of learning. This will help you to
maintain a good relationship between the doggy-owner and will encourage lots of
love between you two.

Caring for Your Pomchi

Pomchis aren’t for owners who aren’t
prepared to carry a huge doggy responsibility. These little dogs require
considerable energy to take care of and more trips to the groomer. They need
constant supervision until you’re sure that they can behave well in the
presence of others.

Exercise Requirements

If you would rather have a lazy companion
who would be content to be a simple lapdog, then you might find another breed a
better fit. This high-energy dog needs regular exercise, although they don’t
need as many runs or jogs as a big dog because of their small size.

Typically, pomchis would do well with 30 minutes of exercise per day. It could be in the form of vigorous playtime in the backyard or 1 to 2 dog walks. They’d be fine with 15 to 20 minutes per walk.

They don’t need long walks because they can
tire out pretty fast, though you can go for something a bit longer if your
pooch’s endurance has already improved.

Feeding Requirements

Pomchis do best when they are fed around 40
calories per pound of bodyweight daily. This approximately equates to ½ cup to
1.5 cups of high-quality dry dog food per day.

The parent breeds tend to be
picky eaters, so there is a risk that your pomchi may also be. When you find it
hard to get a quality kibble that your pooch really likes, your
veterinarian can recommend a good choice.

Grooming

Because most pomchis have Pomeranian-like fur, they need to be regularly groomed — it is best every 6 to 8 weeks. In order to prevent mattes and tangles, their fur always needs to be brushed regularly.

Bathing frequency can be twice a month or
as needed, using vet-approved shampoo.

Pomchi Health Issues

The issues listed below are common to
Pomeranians and chihuahuas, which your pomchi may inherit:

Cataracts

Dental problems

Epilepsy

Hypoglycemia

Hypothyroidism

Patellar luxation

Progressive retinal atrophy

Tracheal collapse

To make sure you have a good pomchi, make sure you get your
puppy from breeders who care about keeping the pedigree quality of their dogs.

Pomchi FAQs

Does the pomchi shed?

Typically, pomchis shed only once a year,
though it would mostly depend on the coat type that they’ve inherited from
their parents.

Are pomchis hypoallergenic?

Chihuahua and Pomeranian are not
hypoallergenic, so the pomchi is not hypoallergenic as well. You may therefore
need to look for another breed of toys that would not easily trigger your
allergies.

Are pomchis good for families?

Yes, pomchis are generally good family
dogs. Though they definitely love the whole family, there will be that one
person that she will be closer to compared to the rest.

Are pomchis good with kids or other pets?

Both the Pomeranian and the chihuahua are
feisty, and particularly if it is not properly socialized, the pomchi can also
be like that. Do not leave her alone with children or other pets until you have
trained your pet. But if they get socialized, you don’t have to worry about
anything.

Are pomchis good apartment dogs?

Yes, pomchis can be great apartment dogs.
They’d be all right in homes with no backyards, provided that you housetrain
them and exercise them well.

Conclusion: Are You Ready to be a Pomchi Parent?

Being a pomchi
parent entails several tasks, but in exchange, you will certainly have a lot of
affection. You’d definitely not be disappointed with the pomchi if you’re
into sassy-looking dogs that are fun to be with.

The post Pomeranian Chihuahua Mix: Appearance, How Much are Pomchi Puppies?

One of the reasons why the Golden Retriever is so loved around the globe is because of its incredibly loving nature. Aside from these positive features, the Golden Retriever is such a sight to behold.

Perhaps, you might have
seen a white or cream-colored Golden Retriever look alike, and you wonder
whether or not that dog is a Golden Retriever. Okay, the fact is, it’s the
English Cream Golden Retriever. And, it is not a new dog breed simply because
it is also a Golden Retriever by heart and the soul.

Is An English Cream Golden Retriever Still Considered
A Golden Retriever?

Sure, it’s a Golden
Retriever too, and it’s not right to call this dog breed another name.
Sometimes there are unscrupulous dog breeders who want to trick their customers
by claiming that the English Cream Golden Retriever is a rare dog breed.

Some breeders call them
names like uncommon colored-white Golden Retrievers from Europe and English
Cream Golden Retrievers, no matter which name this dog breed is referred to, in
the end, it is a true-blooded Golden Retriever dog breed. It is recognized by
both the Canadian and the English authorities.

In short, an
English Cream Golden Retriever is a Golden Retriever but with a lighter shade
of coat or the so-called paler shade of gold.

The Roots of the English Cream Golden Retriever:

The first puppies were
raised in Scotland between 1854 and 1894. It was in 1868 that Baron Tweedmouth
of Guisachan had bred two of his rare dogs, a wavy coated retriever and a
tweeded water spaniel. These two breeds of dogs are now extinct.

The offsprings were
four puppies that were utilized as gun dogs due to their characteristic of a
soft mouth grip.

As time goes by, the
breed was also seen in the US around 1910 and it was in 1925 when the American
Kennel Club recognized the Golden Retriever.

At this point, it is
important to learn that the English Cream Golden Retriever comes from three
bloodlines — American, English and Canadian. While all three come from the same
bloodline, transatlantic breeding has led to differences in the breed.

Some have dark golden
shades of the coat while some have lighter or cream-colored shades of a coat.

The American Club does
not recognize the cream-colored variety. They only accept the three colors of
Golden Retrievers which are Golden, Light Golden, and Dark Golden.

But the UK Kennel Club
recognizes the cream color of the Golden Retriever. Thus, it can be included in
dog shows.

Is An American Golden Retriever Genetically Dissimilar
from An English Golden Retriever?

Well, in a way, yes
they are. This is because the American Golden Retrievers may have descended
from the English Golden Retriever lines which are transported from the USA via
Canada, but the breed has been developed differently according to the standards
of the American Kennel Club and not the standards of the Kennel Club of the
United Kingdom.

Let us take a closer
look between the disparities:

The Temperament of English Cream Golden Retriever:

This dog breed is a
winner when it comes to gentleness and friendliness. It is also an intelligent
dog breed that is loyal and devoted to its owner. And, because of its very
friendly nature, you cannot expect your English Cream Golden Retriever to be a
watchdog. It does not bark as much, but rather it greets strangers with a
loving welcome.

This dog breed is also
used for the treatment and guidance of dogs for the blinds who love the
outdoors. That being said, the English Cream Golden Retriever requires exercise
to make it happy and content.

How Much Exercise Is Needed by an English Cream Golden
Retriever?

This gentle dog is packed with so much energy that it needs an average of two hours of exercise every day. It’s a great running mate, or you might want to take it with you on a hiking adventure. In fact, when it comes to the best forms of exercise, there is no limit, it can be walking, swimming, fishing, catching, just to name a few.

Do you bike and you are disappointed because you can not take your English Cream Golden Retriever along with you? Now you can! Using the Malabi EasyRide Dog Bike Leash Set. This amazing product is equipped with a patented spinning rod dog leash that enables your dog to move in whatever direction it wants without endangering the balance on the bike.

But, if you cannot take it outdoors, your English Cream Golden Retriever can also be happy getting its indoor exercises with the aid of dog PACER LF 3.1Folding Fitness Dog Treadmill.

Is It Easy to Train?

Due to its high level of intelligence, obedience, and they love to please its owner, this dog breed is so easy to train. Of course, it helps if you have a few training dog treats like Pet Botanics Training Reward.

Although its coat is thinner when compared to the American Golden Retriever, it does not mean that it will shed less. For this reason, it is recommended that you give its coat a brush at least two to three times a week. However, at the time of the year when shedding is getting heavier, I suggest that you increase the brushing to every day.

You can get the Kelco Golden Retriever Coat Care Grooming Kit which consists of shampoo and conditioner, a brush and a comb and a finishing spray.

What Are The Health Problems of an English Cream
Golden Retriever?

The coat color has
nothing to do with the overall health of an English Cream Golden Retriever.
However, ancestry may play a role on its health. Let us take a closer look:

There is little evidence that shows that the English bloodlines are healthier than the American counterpart.

The study showed that 61.8% of American Golden Retrievers died from cancers such as lymphosarcoma and mast cell tumors. Whereas the English lines of Golden Retriever, only 38.8% have died from cancer.

Some of the common diseases seen in Golden Retrievers are hip dysplasia, heart disease, and eye problems.

But it does not mean though
that the English line is healthier. Factors like pedigree or genes, proper
care, and nature and nurture have effects on the overall health of your dog.

How Much Is An English Cream Golden Retriever?

Some variables affect
the price of a Golden Retriever. These are the good name of the breeder, the
location, and if the puppy comes from a line of champions.

The price can be from
$1,500.00 to $2,500.00.

When you want to buy a
puppy, you need to know that a good breeder will not advertise Golden Retriever
puppies based on their color (e.g. white or cream or rare), instead, it will
advertise the puppies based on their bloodline and excellent health.

What You Have To Know When Buying An English Cream
Golden Retriever Puppy:

The cream-colored Golden
Retrievers are recognized by the English as well as the Canadian authorities
but not by the American Kennel Club.

Be cautious when the breeder
claims that the cream-colored variety is healthier and will live longer than
the deep golden-colored variety. As I mentioned a while ago, many variables
determine the health and longevity of the Golden Retriever, not just the color
of the coat.

A good breeder will show you
the health records of the parents.

A good breeder will allow you
to socialize with the pups so you can see how the pups interact with humans and
other pets.

Is an English Cream Golden Retriever A Rare Dog Breed?

NO, it is not rare.
There are some Golden puppies with a light shade of gold, but this is not a
rare occurrence. If you see ads that advertise rare cream-colored retrievers,
it’s probably false information. Such breeders are just trying to scam
prospective owners to pay more for a rare dog breed.

Are You Qualified To Be An Owner Of An English Cream
Golden Retriever? (A Checklist)

This dog breed is happy every
time it’s taken out for a walk or other outdoor activities. An hour or two
hours is all it wants to be healthy and happy. If you are an outdoor
person, then you are qualified to own the English Cream Golden Retriever.

Are you allergic to pet hair?
If not, then you are a good candidate to be an owner. This dog sheds throughout
the year but more so during spring and fall.

Do you have the budget to
feed an English Cream Golden Retriever? This is a big active dog, which
means higher exposures to food It must be given an average of two to three cups
of good dog food. The food should contain 30% of protein, 12-18% of fat and
30-35% of carbs.

You can also give your English Cream Golden Retriever healthy snacks of fruits and vegetables like apples and broccoli and about two pieces of boiled okra.

If you live in an apartment and you are wondering whether an English Cream Golden Retriever can thrive well in apartment-living, the answer is YES. One of the remarkable traits of an English Golden Retriever is its adaptability. For as long as you give it its daily dose of exercise, it can live and be content in a small space.

Summary:

To recap, an English
Cream Golden Retriever is no different from the usual Golden Retriever that you
see all the time. It is a Golden Retriever with an English origin that has a
cream-colored coat.

Although it has a very
slight variation in physical appearance from the American Golden Retriever, it
basically has similar traits and genetic makeup. Many breeders may argue that
the English Cream Golden Retriever is healthier than the darker-colored
equivalent, but there isn’t enough evidence to support this claim. Although
they may live a little longer, it is not the only factor to consider that the
color of the cream is actually healthier.

So, if you are looking
for a dog that gets along with everyone, you will never go wrong if you choose
an English Cream Golden Retriever. It is renowned for its gentle and calm
demeanor, which makes it a perfect pet for families.

The post English Cream Golden Retriever: Temperament, Exercise Requirements and More About This Dog Breed first appeared on PetXU.com.

In this article, I’ll share with you what you can expect from this designer dog breed, such as its temperament, the amount of exercise it needs to stay happy and content, and if you have kids at home, is it the right dog. I will also discuss other aspects, including shedding issues, medical issues, trainability. So let’s start finding out more about this dog breed maker.

Where Does The Husky Pug Mix Dog Breed Come From?

To understand where this dog breed comes from, we have to know its two pure breed parents- a Pug and a Siberian Husky.

The Siberian Husky was
raised by an indigenous people named Chukchi as a working dog, primarily as a
sleigh dog. The Huskies allowed them to move their products under a subzero
temperature from one location to another. The Huskies are renowned for their
endurance, stamina, and long-hour ability to work. But the Huskies are not only
hard-working, they are also known to be good companions.

On the other hand, a
Pug is a lapdog that is known for its clownish and playful nature. Unlike the
Huskies, the Pug is a sedentary type of a dog. But one thing that stands out
about this dog is its face- it is flat and somewhat resembles a bulldog because
of the wrinkles on its face.

You may wonder how a
big dog like a Siberian Husky is being raised with a little lapdog like a Pug.
On top of that, two pure breed dogs with opposite personalities are bred
together. The two dogs are bred with the help of artificial insemination. The
Husky is the mom while the Pug is the dad. And the result is called Pugsky or
Hug, the appearance of which depends on the parent gene from which a puppy
comes. A Husky Pug might look more like a Pug with a wrinkled face, or it might
look more like a Husky with pointed ears and middle-sized muzzle.

How Does A Husky Pug Mix Dog Breed Look Like?

A Husky Pug’s weight and height
can not be predicted as its parents are of various sizes. It can grow between
10 and 23.5 inches in height when fully grown. Such an enormous
difference! The same is true when we are going to talk about its weight-it
could be anywhere from 14 to 60 pounds. That said, you must be living in a
place with a larger space because you’re never going to know how big your puppy
would be in a few months.

It is also impossible to
predict the length of the muzzle when it comes to facial features. Some might
have a flat muzzle, while others might have a longer muzzle. Some of the dogs
in the Husky Pug Mix might have wrinkled faces while others might not.

Some of them could have blue
eyes like the Siberian Husky, while some may have the eye color of a Pug.

Coat color also comes in
various shades such as white, gray, brindle, black, red, and silver.

How Much Is A Husky Pug Mix Dog Breed?

Be prepared to shell
out between $1230.00 and $2000.00 if you are going to buy a puppy. The
factors that dictate the price of the puppy are the age, the breeders’
reputation, and location. But be sure to do your part as well before you buy a
puppy from a breeder, by being sure you don’t buy the pup from a puppy mill.

What Is The Personality of a Husky Pug Mix Dog Breed?

One of the common
things about designer dog breeds is that you can not accurately predict
their personalities. Either it has the temperament of a Siberian Husky or a Pug
in the case of a Husky Pug Mix dog. Remember that a Husky is a loyal and hard-working
fellow dog while a Pug is a lazy companion dog breed.

Some of them may have
the couch potato temperament of a Pug who just enjoys sitting and lazing around
the house. But, some of them get the temperament of a Husky, which is alert and
active.

But, generally, the
Husky Pug Mix dog has an easy-going, intelligent, and lively temperament.

How Does A Husky Pug Behave Towards Kids and Other
Pets?

This dog of mixed
breed enjoys playing with children. When children become unmanageable and
rowdy, they are not bothered. If kids pinch them because of their cuteness,
they won’t mind it either. And they get along well with other pets due to
their friendly nature.

Are They Easy to Train?

There will be days when some stubbornness will be shown by it as inherited from a Pug. But when given lots of positive reinforcement, a Husky Pug Mix dog reacts well. For this reason, training treats such as Pot Botanics Training Reward and Blue Buffalo Blue Bits Natural Soft-Moist Training Dog Treats are recommended. This is especially true if your Husky Pug dog gets its trait from a Pug. If you’re a novice dog owner, it’s recommended that you get a professional dog trainer because training a stubborn Husky Pug Mix dog breed might be a challenge.

Do They Require Socialization?

Although this
dog of mixed breeds gets along well with almost all, it is still a good
practice to socialize your dog as soon as you bring it back from a breeder.
This is designed to allow the pet to perform well in different scenarios where
there are plenty of people and other animals. However, socialization is a good
way for them to get used to different types of sound.

How Much Exercise Does A Husky Pug Needs?

Since the parents are
of entirely different ‘planets” when it comes to exercise, you have to assess
it yourself if your dog’s level of enthusiasm and energy comes from a Pug or a
Siberian Husky.

Huskies require an
average of two hours of vigorous exercise while a Pug only needs thirty minutes
of light walk type of an exercise.

But what is best is
that you do the exercise with them either early morning or late in the
afternoon to avoid getting overheated.

The Husky Pug Mix Dog Breed Conundrum:

It is important that you know that if your Husky Pug inherits a Pug’s flat face feature, it means any form of physical exercise needs to be done with caution. Many flat-faced dog breeds have the condition termed brachycephalic narrowing of the airway in which, if exercised too much, they have difficulty breathing. And, they appear to overheat more easily, so when the temperature is high, an activity must be avoided.

This is actually one of a Husky Pug Mix dog breed’s main problems. They may have a Siberian Husky’s energy and working instinct, but a Pug’s anatomy. They might become destructive if they don’t have the outlet to burn that energy. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you provide loads of indoor games for your Husky Pug Mix dog breed to offset the urge to run outside. Chuckit is an example! Indoor Ball for Dogs and Hyper Pet Doggie Tail Interactive Dog Toys.

How Much Food Does It Need?

This dog of mixed breeds is prone to overweight. It is recommended that you provide it with food packed with nutritious ingredients while keeping the food schedule in mind and the right amount based on age and size. At most, feed it with 2.5 cups of dry dog food. Especially during training sessions, you can offer treats, but be sure the dog treats should not reach 10% of its diet.

Here are some of the healthy
choices for your Husky Pug Mix dog breed:

Blue Buffalo Dog Food

Wellness CORE Grain Free Dog Food

Natural Balance Dog Food

Natural Balance L.I.T. Dog Treats

How to Groom Your Husky Pug?

Both of his parents shed a lot, and it’s no surprise you’d have to spend some time and energy brushing your pet breed of Husky Pug Mix. If your dog inherits the Pug parent’s coat, then it has a short, soft coat. Brush the coat twice a week to remove dead hair and keep it glossy.

If your dog inherits
the coat of a Husky, then it has a long and thick coat that needs to be brushed
more often, like four times a week to prevent the formation of mats.

Regardless of which parent your dog gets its coat, to remove hair from your furniture, you need to invest in grooming kits as well as a vacuum cleaner. I can suggest the Benz Dog Grooming Tools Package for the grooming package. Purchase Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum for a good vacuum cleaner that can powerfully suck dog hair.

What Are The Health Problems?

Husky Pugs are prone to
certain types of health problems. Though it is expected to live an average of
12 to 15 years, still, it is best to be aware of the possible conditions that
could plague your Husky Pug mix dog.

Dermatitis: Your dog may suffer from dermatitis in the folds of its skin and its
twisted tails. Dermatitis can make your dog itchy and will manifest some
redness on its skin.

Brachycephalic Airway
Obstruction Syndrome: A medical condition of
flat-faced dogs such as Pugs. If you’re exercising your dog more than
recommended, you’ll see it’s having a hard time breathing. It’s also vulnerable
to heatstroke.

Eye Disease: It could be cataracts or progressive retinal atrophy. If you begin
to see any changes in its eye area, it is best to have it checked by a Vet.

Hip Dysplasia: Genes have something to do with this condition wherein the
thighbone does not fit into the joint of the hip area.

Obesity: Watch out for eating habits and adhere to the recommended
requirement for feeding. It will gain so much weight if you overfeed your Husky
Pug and its joints will be affected.

What Are The Pros and Cons of Owning A Husky Pug Dog
Breed?

Pros:

It is very likely that
personality will be pleasant.

It is good with young children
and other animals.

It is a combination of two
smart and loyal purebred dogs.

Cons:

Although these are smart dogs,
they will test your patience during training because of their stubborn nature.

It has a pug’s small body and
brachycephalic syndrome, but it can have a Siberian Husky’s stamina and high
energy level. Thus, it requires helping the dog to cope with such
a conundrum.

It can inherit the health
problems of its two parents and this means expensive Vet bills.

Husky Pugs Accessories:

Since your Husky Pug is highly likely to inherit the Pug lineage’s brachycephalic syndrome, it requires a special type of dog harness explicitly made for flat-faced dogs. PetLove No Pull Dog Harness, as well as Voyager Step-in Dog Harness, are good examples.

Taking care of a mixed dog breed could mean twice the trouble but at the same time, twice the enjoyment. And this is the exact way to describe the best of two dog breeds rolled into one which is the Lab Husky Mix.

It is known by its
number of names- a Labsky, a Siberian Retriever or a Huskador.

This mixed breed of dogs originates from a Labrador Retriever and a Siberian Husky. It was supposedly bred to come up with a mixed dog breed that has a Labrador Retriever’s sweet and friendly disposition and the Siberian Husky’s quiet disposition.

Although this can be
classified as one of the new kids on the block, there is a growing number of
dog lovers looking to own this mixed dog breed due to its immense popularity in
terms of temperament.

In this article, I will
help you understand how this mixed dog breed can be an awesome addition to your
family.

The Parents of A Lab Husky Mix:

Labrador
Retrievers:

This purebred dog breed
has its origins from Newfoundland. It was used as a working dog whose job was
to retrieve ducks and fish. This is the reason why this dog breed loves the
water.

It is known to be
smart, loyal, and has a friendly disposition.

Siberian Husky:

This breed of purebred
dogs comes from Siberia. It is also used to pull sleds on an icy surface. This
dog helped transport goods like food, woods to be used to set up a fire, and
other necessities.

It is known to be
intelligent, good with children and a loyal companion.

Labrador
Retriever x Siberian Husky= Lab Husky:

In most cases, owning a
mixed or designer breed of dogs is a gamble. It is because you don’t know the
temperament of which parent it will have. But in the case of the Lab Husky, you
definitely know what you are getting into. This is because the two
purebred parents have similar features including high intelligence, integrity,
dynamism, and friendliness.

Lab Husky Mix Puppies:

Being a large breed mixed dog, the Lab Husky could develop slower than the smaller dog breeds such as Maltese. Therefore, it is very important to give your puppy a food formula that is made specifically for a one-year cycle of large breed puppy. It ensures that the puppy has the right food to maintain his strength, but at the same time does not allow the puppy to grow faster and endanger the health of his bones and joints.

An excellent dry puppy dog food to consider is the Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Large Breed Puppy Dog Food.

Lab Husky Mix Full Grown:

As a pup, it’s not
uncommon to see a Lab Husky litter bearing the same looks. But as each pup
grows older, subtle changes will be seen. Little by little, each pup will bear
a resemblance to either of its parents. Some might look more like a Labrador
Retriever, while others might look more like a Siberian Husky. There would be
some dogs that could have both parents mixed together.

The color of the coat,
for instance, can be black, brown, red, white or a mix of those colors. The
texture of the hair might be short or medium in length. The color of the eyes
also varies, some pups may have blue or brown eyes, or in some cases, one of
each color. This condition is called heterochromia
(a condition in which the eyes are not of the same color).

The ears could either
be flopped down as the case of a Labrador Retriever or the ears could be
upright as the case of the Siberian Husky.

Lab Husky Mix Size:

Since not all Lab Husky
mix full grown looks this same, there is a common denominator among them and
that is the height and the weight.

Its height can be 20 to
25 inches tall and could weigh between 40 and 60 pounds. Here is a comparison
between the two sexes:

Weight: Females between 40 and 55
pounds

Males between 40 and 60 pounds

Height: Females between 20 and 24
inches

Males between 21 and 25 inches

Lab Husky Mix Temperament:

The temperament of the
dog is another area in which it can not be predicted accurately. That is
because the dog may be more like one of the parents. But I’m going to put the
temperament of a Lab Husky Mix Dog Breed on the list below:

The dog may inherit the calm temperament of a Labrador Retriever

The dog may inherit the high-strung temperament of a Siberian Husky

The dog may bark if it feels you are threatened. This barking
conduct is inherited from a Labrador Retriever. On the other hand, the
dog may be a barker, barking at almost anything which is common among Siberian
huskies.

The dog may have a calm temperament like a Siberian Husky, or when
meeting people, it might be exuberant like a Labrador Retriever.

The dog may love to dig like a Siberian Husky or it would chew on
anything like a Labrador Retriever.

But, the Lab Husky,
when fully grown, may have a temperament of its own which is not listed above.

Exercise Requirements of Lab Husky Mix:

Expect that this dog is
full of energy. Both of her parents are working dogs and thus boredom could be
an issue if you don’t give her the required exercise. When bored, it’d find
ways to stay busy and you wouldn’t want that to happen for sure. Thus, be sure
to exercise it before you go to work. If you need to wake up early, do so.
To keep it satisfied it requires an hour of hard exercise.

You can take it out on
a walk, jog, run, hike or swim. The Lab Husky Mix is characterized by its
webbed paws which are perfect for swimming.

It can be a problem to
live in an apartment without a fenced backyard. But don’t get disheartened, it
would be fine for as long as you take it out for some physical activity.

There may be days when you cannot take it out due to some circumstances, what you can do is to provide it with indoor games such as fetch games such as Chuckit! Canine Hardware Indoor Roller Dog Toy or Chew King Durable Natural Rubber Fetch Toy.

That being said, for
someone living a sedentary lifestyle, the Lab Husky Mix is not a good match.
It’s just not longing for a workout, but it’s waiting for a kind of vigorous
exercise.

The Trainability of a Lab Husky Mix:

This dog is a descendant
of two smart dogs, so expect to be easy to train. Some dogs may be eager to
make their fur parents happy, so it’s going to make easy learning. Or perhaps
the dog may inherit a Siberian Husky’s stubborn personality, if that’s the
case, training can be quite a challenge.

The important thing for
you, however, is to establish yourself as the pack’s leader. This has to be ‘
relayed ‘ from day one to your dog. Siberian Huskies are pack animals and they
love to follow their leader.

The best way to train your Lab Husky is by using positive reinforcement, either through words, gesture or food treats like Crazy Dog Train-Me! Training Treats.

Besides training,
socializing your Lab Husky Mix dog is also important. It shouldn’t be difficult
because this dog is friendly towards other animals and new people.

Also, exposing your dog
to different sounds, sights, and even smells at a young age is a good idea.
This is what is called desensitization
— a process in which you are teaching your dog how to stay calm in different
unfamiliar scenarios.

Few Behavioral Problems That You May Encounter:

Both of its parents have some behavioral problems which may be passed on to their offspring. But if you will train your pup at a young age, these can be altered.

For example, since a Labrador Retriever enjoys chewing on things, the Lab Husky Mix may inherit such traits. What you can do is buy indestructible chew toys for aggressive chewers like EETOYS Dog Chew Toys.

A Siberian Husky also
enjoys digging that can be passed on to her offspring. What you can do is pick
a corner, fill it with soil or sand, and then train your dog just to dig in
that area only.

Grooming a Lab Husky Mix:

This dog is
double-coated which consists of a soft undercoat and a long overcoat. The
double coat has a function as it protects the dogs from harsh winter months.

This dog is shedding heavily. Shedding seasons are spring and fall time. Regular brushing can help control the shedding during these times of the year by using an undercoat rake such as FURminator Grooming Rake. Compared to the FURminator deShedding Ultra Premium Dog Shampoo, it is also recommended to reduce shedding.

Health Problems of Lab Husky Mix:

The lifespan is 11 to
13 years but it can be cut short due to different health problems such as:

1. Exercise-Induced Collapse or EIC:

A dog suffering from this
disease has a recessive gene that makes it vulnerable after a prolonged
exercise regimen to loss of muscle function.

2. Food and Seasonal Allergies:

There are certain types
of proteins that your Lab Husky may be allergic to. Signs are redness of skin
and scratching.

3. Hip Dysplasia:

This is an inheritance
that is most common in large breed dogs. A dog suffering from this painful
condition has underdeveloped joint sockets.

4. Kerato-Conjunctivitis Sicca:

The sign is drying of
the eyes. The corneas are affected due to a lack of moisture.

Other types of health
problems that could plague your dog are:

5. Epilepsy

6. Hemophilia

7. Thyroid problem

8. Myopathy

9. Cancer

Amount of Food:

While your Lab Husky is
still a puppy, feed it 1.5 cups of puppy food for large-breed dogs per day,
divided into three servings. You can cut it down into two portions once they
reach the age of six months, with a total of 2.5 cups per day.

Twice the Trouble, Twice the Excitement:

The Lab Husky Mixed dog
is an expensive dog breed in comparison to other types of mixed dog breeds, but
it is worth the money spent on.

The mixed breed of dogs
is lovable and intelligent, making it a great addition to the family. With both
parents ‘ working-dog lineage, it’s no doubt you won’t find it hard to
it teach how to obey you once you’ve established yourself as the alpha.

But be prepared for an
active lifestyle as it requires more than just a short walk to the park. Every
day, it wants an activity packed with action for an hour.
